This tutorial will give you an overall view of doing business on the web, show you how little you need to spend, and help you put together a plan for success.
The best way to grow a successful web business is to focus on one phase at a time. The first two phases can take from a few days to a few weeks. They are:
Phase 1: Identifying the niche you want to work in, and deciding what you'll sell.
Phase 2: Setting up your web presence via a website or blog, with key components such as a way to grow an opt-in list.
The last two phases are more ongoing, and require a little work done regularly, to both maintain and grow your income streams. They are:
Phase 3: Promoting your site/blog and growing credibility.
Phase 4: Multiplying your income sources.
I'll be walking you through each phase with tutorials, detailed videos and free products you can use to accomplish each task. For now, let's talk a little more about each phase so you have a solid overview of the entire process.
In phase one you'll decide what niche you want to work in. You'll also decide what you will market online - in the short term and the long term. If you have no idea what you will promote on the web, making these decisions should be your first step. The best way to start is to focus on something you know and enjoy. After all, if you're going to be in business, you may as well like what you are doing. Once you have an idea or two, I'll show you how to evaluate it and decide what to promote within your chosen niche.
Of course, your best bet is to promote your own products and services so you can maximize profits. It's easier than you may think to create your own ebooks, software, member sites and other marketing products and services. I'll be showing you how, so you can set your long-term goal of profiting from your own product(s) or services.
But if you want to get started a little quicker, make your short term goal to promote products or services that already exist in your niche. There are affiliate programs available in just about any product or service category you can imagine so this strategy can apply to just about any business. Just remember not to lose focus on your long term goal, and keep working on your own product/service. While you're doing that, you can still get started with phase 2.
In phase two you'll start setting up your web presence. This means you'll need a website or a blog. If you go the blog route, it's basically free. You'll just use a free blogging platform such as wordpress or blogger.com. But be prepared to post new entries at your blog at least once a week or so, otherwise it will be ineffective.
A better way to start for most newcomers, is with a website. It's more of a 'static' presence but that frees up your time for important things such as product creation and marketing activities. To put up a good website you'll need a some basic site design skills and an attractive website template. My video tutorials will give you the skills you need, and there are lots of great website templates you can choose from at no cost inside the Gold member area.
The one thing that will cost you a little money is a web host for your site. But I've provided some excellent low cost options for hosting in the recommended services area.
No matter which direction you go, with a blog or a website, you'll need to integrate a few key components. I'll share all the details with you via more tutorials and videos, but one component in particular I want to mention now, is an opt-in list strategy.
An opt-in list strategy includes a way for visitors to your site or blog to leave their name and email address. You'll need to make it simple, and offer them an irresistible reason for doing so. You'll also need to take a little time to setup a follow-up series of email messages, and a broadcast schedule that shares niche-related help and recommendations with your opt-in list members.
I realize this sounds like a lot of work but I assure it is not. You can do it all in a day or two and it is the backbone of every serious web presence.
In fact, I'll go so far as to say that NOT doing this is the very reason for the failure of most small and home web businesses. That's why I give my Gold members access to a follow-up email series of mine that has pulled in $250k in sales all by itself. You can model your own email series after mine and have it up and making money for you very quickly.
Once you've completed phases one and two, your web presence is in place. Then it will be time to start growing traffic to your site and growing your income.
In phase three you'll start growing your credibility and your website traffic. Growing credibility is an important step and can be done systematically via some very specific strategies and resources. You'll find a course on this in the free products area. Once you get started down that path you'll find your traffic starting to grow.
This is when you'll implement important strategies such as search engine optimization, article marketing, Google analytics and more. While you can spend a lot of money on website traffic, there are lots of ways to get traffic to your website or blog without paying for it. I'll be sharing every effective strategy with you in detail. Gold members can access my training videos which show you exactly how to do everything including how I get #1 rankings at google.
Finally, in phase four you'll learn how to expand your income sources via strategies such as back-end selling, joint venture marketing, webinars, Google adsense, and more.
Remember, an effective web business is always growing and you can increase your income by adding new products and services as well as new marketing strategies. I'll go into detail on the most effective ways to increase your income online, by showing you the strategies that work best.
As I mentioned earlier, phases three and four are ongoing. You can spend as little or as much time as you want on these phases and your income is usually a direct result of that time spent. You can also outsource these tasks and I'll share some resources for how you can do that. In fact, it is possible to outsource just about any web business task. Some super-successful folks go so far as to plan out new business ideas then outsourcing all the setup and ongoing work. Once the business is earning income, they move onto a new idea. Before long they have multiple business in multiple niches, all generating income. I realize that may seem out of reach if you're just getting started, but if you make it a long-term goal, you may be surprised at how attainable it is.
For now, take your time, go through each tutorial, watch the videos, use the free products I've included, and accomplish a task or two each week. I'll be here to help whenever you have a question or run into a snag. Oh, and have a little fun along the way!
